Marilyn Monroe
Nació en Los Angeles -California- (Estados Unidos) el 1 de junio de 1926 como Norma Jean Mortenson y acabaría convirtiéndose en el mito cinematográfico femenino por excelencia como Marilyn Monroe. Con una madre ingresada en una institución psiquiátrica y un padre que las había abandonado, Marilyn tuvo una infancia errante por orfanatos y familias adoptivas, padeciendo abusos sexuales a los ocho años. Casada a los 16 años con un mecánico de aviones, un fotógrafo la descubrió y le propuso posar como modelo para diversas revistas. Llamó la atención de Howard Hughes, que la quiso probar para la RKO, pero Ben Lyon, de la Fox, se la arrebató y le cambió el nombre y el aspecto. Dotada de un magnetismo especial, fue víctima de una imagen turbadora y sexual que el cine explotó hasta la saciedad. No obstante, supo incluir en su repertorio papeles "serios" ("Niágara", Río sin retorno", "Bus Stop" y "Vidas rebeldes", su última película completa). Sin embargo, a medida que se convertía en estrella, se tornaba más vulnerable. Sus continuos problemas personales (matrimonios fallidos con el jugador de baseball Joe Di Maggio y el escritor Arthur Miller), su turbulenta intimidad (amoríos con el clan Kennedy) y la presion de la fama la empujaron un 5 de agosto de 1962 a suicidarse con una sobredosis de tranquilizantes.
